What Would You Tell Your Children?
The above-pictured lady in the WFAA-TV Ch 8 story says she WILL open her salon Friday morning, in violation against the Governor's order. About 4 Fort Worth bars also say they will open and violate the Governor's order.
Both can lose their respective licenses and be jailed up to 6 months and be fined up to $1,000. The TDLR says it will go after salons that disobey, as does the TABC for the bars.
If you are these business owners, what would you tell your kid about why you're breaking the law? I would not do this. Why? Because I don't want to bring up my child to think it's OK to break the law--sometimes--that is, when I think it's OK. That's moral relativism, and if you support that, then you support illegals who come in this country illegally because they're not able to get food or pay their bills. You'd also have to support people who don't own businesses, but have lost their jobs and run out of money, in breaking the law to get money for themselves too (perhaps stealing or embezzlement?).
Now, I would not agree with you, but would respect you if you were willing to get charged, go to jail and face losing your licenses to stand up to what you disagree with. Just don't play victim if you lose your case.
I think the difference here is that a lot of people are coming across to me as being just like leftists who are moral relativists, in that some laws are ok to break "because I'm right".
NOW--on another point--Chris Salcedo, our Mid-Day Talk Host on WBAP--says his listeners have been complaining to him as of late, saying "How can you be friends with Chris Krok", asking him to "unfriend" me, or at least rebuke me. He'll join me on the show tonight at 8:30pm/Friday night to tell us his thoughts..maybe he will call me out.
