Terrifying Street Justice in Dallas County
(WFAA-TV Ch 8 photo)
This should terrify all of us.
Just by saying or doing the wrong thing, within a short amount of time, a mob may show up and attack you, acting as judge/jury/executioner and carrying out the sentencing right there on the spot. No trial, no hearing, no evidence: Guilty and sentenced right there.
Now..the man that was attacked DID admit to calling this black man the "N-word". And that is never ok. BUT..instead of folks coming together and peacefully protesting and doing their best to discourage folks from using his auto shop, they went way further, way faster.
Within an hour or so of this altercation, 200+ people descended upon his shop. It got so bad, the owner tried to flee with this employees in his car--for safety. But the mob wasn't having that. No--they surrounded his car, jumped on the front and back of his car...knocked off his side view mirror and then slashed his tire so he could not escape. All while police and the Mayor Pro Tem stood there.
The man ended up tearing off over the grass, driving on a bare steel rim, to flee and get to safety. How was this a good thing? How was this equitable? It wasn't.
I suspect that every "protester" there would want their loved ones to be treated fairly, if accused of a crime. I suppose they'd want their opportunity to gather evidence and present their case. In fact, many BLM supporters say black folks don't get treated fairly in our judicial system. Well, look at these folks, executing summary judgement on this man.
Shouldn't they "..treat him as they'd want to be treated"??
Now--according to WBAP's Clayton Neville, who was on my show tonight, the black man put paper towels/napkins in the toilet, causing the man to flip out on the black customer. The black customer supposedly then went off on the owner of the car shop, swearing at him, yelling at him. The owner ADMITS to calling the man the "N-word" and may have also told him to "go back to Africa" and may have said graphic sexual things to his mom.
NONE OF THIS IS OK. However, it's not illegal and not grounds to do what they did to him.
The owner says he's "African American, too..". The only name he'd give the news was "Mustafa". Perhaps he's from Egypt or Libya..in Africa. He says the "N--word" to him is a description of an attitude, not a skin color.
Well, I strongly agree with what some folks who were "protesting" said: "We're not going to stop until he's not getting one penny from us. He comes into our community and treats us this way??". AMEN! THAT'S a LAWFUL boycott and protest. I stand WITH YOU on that; NOT on this.
This was summary judgement. Summary execution. And it should terrify all of us. It's mob rule. It's the antithesis of America.
